Book Review | #bestiemademe | A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

06.03.2020 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

The May book for the #bestiemademe challenge was A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer.  Kari has been bugging me to read this book for a long time, as is the standard with all of the #bestiemademe books.  And as with all of these books, Kari was right.  I was really engaged in this story, and absolutely loved it.  I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads.

Book Review | The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller

05.15.2020 by Kari // Leave a Comment

The fact that anyone can pass up a story that is described as a “Slytherin romance” is beyond me. Maybe it’s a guilty pleasure, but all I know is that it’s fun and enjoyable, and that’s all that matters.

I really enjoyed Daughter of the Pirate King. While Levenseller’s other books are on my ongoing TBR list, this book reminded me of how fun her writing is while simultaneously reminding me that I need to read her other two books as soon as possible!

Book Review | Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

05.12.2020 by Kari // Leave a Comment

815DVMYkIIL I love Sarah J. Maas. I am #maastrash, but not as big as some people are. Yet I will read pretty much anything she puts out.

My first series of hers was actually ACOTAR because I started reading last year around the time A Court of Frost and Starlight came out. I finally made my way to Throne of Glass last year and I recent reread via Audible made me want want to write this review. It reminded me of how much I love the world Maas built and the awesomeness that is Celaena Sardothien.

04.18.2020 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

45046574**Disclaimer: I received a free early access reader’s copy of You Let Me In by Camilla Bruce in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.  Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this opportunity.

You Let Me In by Camilla Bruce is an adult novel that falls in sort of the mystery thriller genre.  However, it has some fantasy and horror elements as well.  It tells the story of Cassandra Tipp as she writes about her life before she mysteriously disappeared.  I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.  You Let Me In releases on April 21st.

Book Review | #bestiemademe | Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

April’s #bestiemademe read is Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller!  I listened to this one as an audiobook, just to switch it up from the usual style I’ve done for reading the previous #bestiemademe books. Daughter of the Pirate King is a YA fantasy novel about, you guessed it, the daughter of the pirate king, Alosa.  I rated it four stars on Goodreads.

Book Review | Find Me by André Aciman

04.08.2020 by Kari // Leave a Comment

916J-aNjuHLCall Me By Your Name was one of my favorite reads last year. After I read the book, we had to go out and get the movie to watch as well. It’s definitely not a story for everyone, but for me it was a beautiful love story that left me wanting more. When I heard Find Me was going to be published, I knew that I needed to read it as soon as possible.

Book Review | #bestiemademe – We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

04.06.2020 by Kari // Leave a Comment

91kkPLZfk8L I read We Were Liars at the beginning of this year. I forgot exactly when Ashley recommended it to me, but it was long enough for me to have had it on my TBR, finally buy a copy, and then have it sit there for a little while longer.

Due of the nature of this book, it’s going to be a short and vague review. I do apologize in advance.
