two friends and too many books
I was so excited when I found out about this box. A Court of Thorns and Roses is a really cool series and I enjoyed the world building and the characters. Lately a lot of my friends are reading this and it’s giving me a lot of need to reread it. I especially need to reread it after getting this box.
After last month, I think I’m going to try and take it easy on myself when it comes to my TBR. I have a lot of things I know that I need to read, but I’m going to be gentle. If I don’t get there, that’s okay. Plus I have a vacation planned later in the month during Spring Break, so I’m not going to be bringing too much of my physical TBR around with me. So I have a few gentle suggestions for myself, but if I don’t get to them I’m okay with that. My TBR can be found below the cut.
February was a weird reading month for me. I had several things on my TBR that I really wanted to get to, but I didn’t get to most of it. Without officially saying it, I kind of threw my TBR out the window. I finished some things I started in January, but anything physical that I started in February that wasn’t a graphic novel was pretty much a no go. I was definitely feeling slumpy, despite the fact that I read 19 things. Most of what I read were audiobooks and graphic novels. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s not really a great thing either. I need to work on my physical TBR some more, but that’s probably a next month kind of thing. However, without further ado, you’ll find everything I read below the cut.
February has been an interesting month, but somewhat light on book purchasing for me. Other than my OwlCrate, I didn’t technically buy any books this month. My order from Amazon that came in was full of pre-orders and things purchased previously. I did buy some books for my classroom library through this cool event hosted by my school district, but I didn’t specifically pay for those. So like I said, an interesting month. You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is an adult mystery/thriller set in New York City. The events in the book center around the protagonist, Shay Miller, who is a data analyst unsatisfied with her lot in life and who gets caught up in a mystery. I gave this book 4 stars on Goodreads. It publishes on March 3rd, 2020.
This past month’s OwlCrate was pretty great. I had heard nothing about the book, but the collection of items in the box was really great!

Foul is Fair by Hannah Capin is a Macbeth retelling as a YA contemporary novel. All the characters from the iconic Shakespearean tragedy have been translated into well off high school students in sunny California. I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads.
It’s a Leap Year this year! It’s so weird to have this one little bonus day, and I’m kind of excited because it’s one more day of reading for me. I have a nice variety of books I’m planning on picking up this month. You’ll find them below the cut.
I love the feeling of a fresh year of reading. There’s always so much anticipation when it comes to the new books I’ll pick up or even the old books that I’ll revisit.
I’m off to a good start when I comes to reading this year. In January I read 21 books, of a variety of qualities. One was pretty low in the rating departments, but one will be one of my favourites of the year.

This is another year where I set a resolution to read more of what I already own and to buy less books. However, I have to admit that I’m not doing so well on that resolution this far. There’s still time to get better at it…but we’ll see how it goes.
