February was an unexpectedly good reading month for me. I ended up reading 32 books, which is amazing considering it’s more than there are days in the month. I’m really impressed with myself, especially since I hit my goal of 50 books minimum this year. I also picked up some really exciting books this month. You’ll find them all below the cut!
Book Review | The Initial Insult by Mindy McGinnis
**Disclaimer: I received a free advanced readers copy of The Initial Insult by Mindy McGinnis through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this opportunity.
The Initial Insult by Mindy McGinnis is a young adult contemporary mystery novel. However, it is also a retelling of one of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic stories. It revolves around two girls, Felicity and Tress. Felicity was with Tress’ parents when they went missing seven years ago, and Tress has plans to figure out what happened to them. The Initial Insult is set to be published on February 23rd. I rated it four stars on GoodReads.
Ashley’s February TBR
February is going to be a busier month for me as my schedule changes at school and I have more courses to teach. However, I’m still hoping to get a fair amount of reading done, and I might have a somewhat ambitious TBR as a consequence. I’m going to list the books I’m planning on reading below the cut.
Misc Monday | February Anticipated Releases
February is yet another month filled with really good sounding books. I’ve already read a couple of them thanks to eARCs, but for the ones that I haven’t yet read, I’m really excited to check them out. Hopefully they’ll be just as awesome as I’m hoping!
Shelfie Sunday | November OwlCrate – Growing Wild
The November box was a bit of a mixed bag for me. There were some items that I really liked, but there were other items that I wasn’t as big on. Overall, I had a positive feeling about the box but obviously they can’t all be perfect.
Ashley’s January Haul and Wrap Up
January marked the start of a brand new reading year. I’m excited for a fresh start and to read some really good books. I’m hoping to be able to tick more books off of my physical TBR, so I’ve joined a TBR challenge through bookstagram. Five of the books I read this month are from that.

Ashley’s December Wrap Up and Haul
I honestly can’t believe that December is coming to a close and that 2020 is wrapping up. This has been a hard year, but it’s also had some good moments for me personally. That being said, I am glad that it’s coming to an end and am hoping for even better things in 2021. I had a pretty decent reading month this month, and I hauled a few books. I’m just going to jump into those now, but you’ll find them below the cut.
Top 5 Thursday | Ashley’s Best Reads of 2020
I had an amazing reading year in 2020. I read way more books than I expected I would read and more than I probably will ever read in a year again. It was a messy year, but I read a lot of books which is pretty great. This is going to be a quick overview of my favourite books that I read this year. It is also going to be a few more than the top 5, so I’m sorry about that.
