May was another weird month, but I think that all of the months will be weird until this whole pandemic ends. I ended up succumbing to my book buying urges this month and picked up an order from Book Outlet because they had some crazy sales going on. I also picked up a couple of other books. You’ll find them below the cut.
The Loyal Book-A-Thon | Summer Edition
Hello friends! Kari and I were feeling inspired and in need of reading inspiration and are planning our next edition of The Loyal Book-A-Thon readathon in June. As summer starts in June, we decided to do one with prompts inspired by summer, which is arguably one of the best seasons in the year.
Misc Monday | Book Cover Outfits
People have been getting so creative during this pandemic. Personally, I haven’t been, but I have found some inspiration from places like Book Twitter, and BookTube. One trend that I found that I think is really cool is this whole book covers as outfits trend. I really, really wanted to do it but was nervous because my wardrobe isn’t extensive. I also wanted to play with makeup, but I’m not particularly talented at it. However, I thought it could be a fun blog post, so you’ll find that below the cut.
Writing Wednesday | Things I Learned from #YALLSTAYHOME
There was one good thing that came out of this pandemic for me, and that was the fact that I was able to attend webinars for #YALLSTAYHOME. YALLWEST/YALLFEST are events that I’ve always thought it would be fun to attend. However, due to the nature of my job and the timing of the events, I have known that I will never be able to actually attend them. Fortunately for me, the regular event was cancelled and then reformed as a virtual event where participants could tune in from the comfort of their own couches. I was so excited to get the chance to hear some of my favourite writers speak.
Book Review | The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller
The fact that anyone can pass up a story that is described as a “Slytherin romance” is beyond me. Maybe it’s a guilty pleasure, but all I know is that it’s fun and enjoyable, and that’s all that matters.
I really enjoyed Daughter of the Pirate King. While Levenseller’s other books are on my ongoing TBR list, this book reminded me of how fun her writing is while simultaneously reminding me that I need to read her other two books as soon as possible!
Book Review | Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
I love Sarah J. Maas. I am #maastrash, but not as big as some people are. Yet I will read pretty much anything she puts out.
My first series of hers was actually ACOTAR because I started reading last year around the time A Court of Frost and Starlight came out. I finally made my way to Throne of Glass last year and I recent reread via Audible made me want want to write this review. It reminded me of how much I love the world Maas built and the awesomeness that is Celaena Sardothien.
Shelfie Sunday | March OwlCrate Unboxing – Music of the Night
It’s the time of the month where I finally upload my March OwlCrate unboxing. I was pretty excited because it was the fifth anniversary box, so I figured it was going to be pretty special. The theme for March was Music of the Night, and overall I really liked it.

Misc Monday | May Anticipated Releases
May is a month where I get a little bit restless because I start anticipating summer break a little bit. However, it’s still a good month for reading and there are some particularly exciting books coming out this month.
Shelfie Sunday | February OwlCrate Unboxing – A Power Within
Oops! I am definitely behind on my OwlCrate unboxings. I’m just going to jump straight into the February one, for which the theme was ‘A Power Within’.
