Shelfie Sunday | May’s OwlCrate

07.12.2020 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

May’s OwlCrate was a box that I was eagerly anticipating.  I definitely understand why it takes so long for the box to be sent out, and I don’t blame them for that, but I do wish it was still coming mid month.  However, that didn’t change my enjoyment of the box.  I’m overall quite happy with all the items that came in the box.

05.25.2020 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

Hello friends!  Kari and I were feeling inspired and in need of reading inspiration and are planning our next edition of The Loyal Book-A-Thon readathon in June.  As summer starts in June, we decided to do one with prompts inspired by summer, which is arguably one of the best seasons in the year.

Book Review | #bestiemademe | Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

03.15.2020 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is the second book I read for the #bestiemademe challenge that Kari and I are doing. Kari loved it, so she’s been bugging me to read it for awhile. I read this in February and finished it in early March, and I was very grateful for the recommendation because I absolutely loved this book and rated it 5 stars.

**Disclaimer: I received a free advanced reader’s copy of Foul is Fair by Hannah Capin through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to them and the publishers for this opportunity.

Foul is Fair by Hannah Capin is a Macbeth retelling as a YA contemporary novel. All the characters from the iconic Shakespearean tragedy have been translated into well off high school students in sunny California. I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads.

Ashley’s February TBR

02.01.2020 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

It’s a Leap Year this year! It’s so weird to have this one little bonus day, and I’m kind of excited because it’s one more day of reading for me. I have a nice variety of books I’m planning on picking up this month. You’ll find them below the cut.

Ashley’s January Wrap Up

01.31.2020 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

I love the feeling of a fresh year of reading. There’s always so much anticipation when it comes to the new books I’ll pick up or even the old books that I’ll revisit.

I’m off to a good start when I comes to reading this year. In January I read 21 books, of a variety of qualities. One was pretty low in the rating departments, but one will be one of my favourites of the year.

You’ll find everything I read below the cut:

Book Review | Followers by Megan Angelo

01.10.2020 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

**Disclaimer: I recorded a free advanced reader’s copy of Followers by Megan Angelo in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for this opportunity.

Followers by Megan Angelo is a Sci-Fi/contemporary story about the downsides of fame and technology. It takes place in two different timelines, with two main points of view, but eventually those timelines collide. I gave it four stars on Goodreads.

Misc Monday | 27 Books to Read in my 27th Year

12.03.2018 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

Today I turn 27! It is both exciting and terrifying because I feel like now I’m fully into my late 20s and that’s scary.  It doesn’t help that I feel like I haven’t achieved a lot in my life, though people who know me will give me a pep talk and tell me that teaching isn’t nothing.  And that’s very true, it isn’t nothing. I am very proud of my teaching and love my job very much. That doesn’t make 27 any less scary and that doesn’t stop me from making comparisons to other people in my life.
