I love how people draw inspiration for these bookish tags from the most everyday of things. Personally there are some things I would change on this tag, but it’s not mine so I’m rolling with the punches here. Check out my answers below the cut.
Ashley’s April TBR | OWLs Readathon 2020 + The Loyal Book-a-Thon: Quarantine Edition
It’s that time of year again; time for the OWLs Magical Readathon. I have to admit that I’m pretty dang excited. I could use a distraction from everything that is going on right now. So I’m definitely excited to spend some time devouring some books and escaping from real life. It’s also an extra exciting month because Kari and I are hosting the inaugural Loyal Book-a-Thon: Quarantine Edition. Find out more here.
Book Review | We Are the Wildcats by Siobhan Vivian
**Disclaimer: I received a free early reader’s copy of We Are the Wildcats by Siobhan Vivian through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to them and the publisher for this opportunity.
We Are the Wildcats by Siobhan Vivian is a young adult contemporary novel about a high school girl’s field hockey team. It is multi point of view and you get the perspectives of a variety of girls on the varsity team at West Essex high school. We Are the Wildcats publishes on March 31st. I rated it 5 stars on Goodreads.
The Loyal Book Club | The Shadowglass
Hello, friends! Kari and I are excited to introduce a new feature of our blog: The Loyal Book Club. Every couple of months, we will choose a book to feature as our book club read. We will schedule dates that parts of the book need to be read by and open up a discussion chat on instagram. This month it is going to coincide with our inaugural session of The Loyal Book-a-thon! This is our first time doing this on the blog, and our first book is The Shadowglass by Rin Chupeco.
Tag Tuesday | Books and Elements Tag
Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of my favourite shows. I know it’s technically a show for children but I really appreciated the way it dealt with serious issues. That’s why I really like the idea behind this tag. You can see my answers to the element themed questions below the cut.
Book Review | #bestiemademe | Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is the second book I read for the #bestiemademe challenge that Kari and I are doing. Kari loved it, so she’s been bugging me to read it for awhile. I read this in February and finished it in early March, and I was very grateful for the recommendation because I absolutely loved this book and rated it 5 stars.
Misc Monday | Fae Crate Thorns and All Hangover Recovery Crate Unboxing
I was so excited when I found out about this box. A Court of Thorns and Roses is a really cool series and I enjoyed the world building and the characters. Lately a lot of my friends are reading this and it’s giving me a lot of need to reread it. I especially need to reread it after getting this box.
Ashley’s March TBR
After last month, I think I’m going to try and take it easy on myself when it comes to my TBR. I have a lot of things I know that I need to read, but I’m going to be gentle. If I don’t get there, that’s okay. Plus I have a vacation planned later in the month during Spring Break, so I’m not going to be bringing too much of my physical TBR around with me. So I have a few gentle suggestions for myself, but if I don’t get to them I’m okay with that. My TBR can be found below the cut.
Ashley’s February Wrap Up
February was a weird reading month for me. I had several things on my TBR that I really wanted to get to, but I didn’t get to most of it. Without officially saying it, I kind of threw my TBR out the window. I finished some things I started in January, but anything physical that I started in February that wasn’t a graphic novel was pretty much a no go. I was definitely feeling slumpy, despite the fact that I read 19 things. Most of what I read were audiobooks and graphic novels. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s not really a great thing either. I need to work on my physical TBR some more, but that’s probably a next month kind of thing. However, without further ado, you’ll find everything I read below the cut.
Ashley’s February Haul
February has been an interesting month, but somewhat light on book purchasing for me. Other than my OwlCrate, I didn’t technically buy any books this month. My order from Amazon that came in was full of pre-orders and things purchased previously. I did buy some books for my classroom library through this cool event hosted by my school district, but I didn’t specifically pay for those. So like I said, an interesting month. Everything I got is listed below the cut.
