Do love reading and the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

If so, we have a great opportunity for you: an Avengers: End Game themed readathon!

Each prompt is inspired by one of our favourite heroes, and they range from fairly specific to somewhat general but they are all fairly open to your interpretation!  We hope you’ll join us on bookstagram on this adventure as we ramp up to the premiere of Avengers: End Game. Let us know if you’re in by posting pictures/stories with the hashtag #endgamereadathon.

On BookTube? Be sure to let us know via Instagram or here!

Basic Guidelines
💫 Readathon starts March 24th, 2019 and ends April 24th, 2019
💫 Use our hashtag: #endgamereadathon
💫 Post your TBR so we can see what you’re reading (and maybe shout you out)
💫 Read as much or as little as you’d like
💫 Feel free to combine prompts. If you can somehow manage to combine all 29 prompts in one books, we will salute you heartily!*
💫 Feel free to try to challenge yourself and read a book based on each individual prompt.  If you can read 29 books in the month long period, we will salute you heartily.*
💫 Any genre, or type of book can be read during this readathon as long as it fits one of the prompts!
💫 If you have any questions, please let us know!

*If we’re being honest, we will salute you heartily if you just join in and read with us.

Review | Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan

03.18.2019 by Kari // Leave a Comment

wickedsaints***Disclaimer: I received a free early access copy of Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan from NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for review purposes. Thank you so much!

Wicked Saints is one of the most anticipated reads of the year with good reason. It’s been compared to Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse, but I feel like that’s where the surface similarities end. The world in Wicked Saints is very eastern European inspired and also very dark, which is extremely fitting.

Ashley’s February 2019 Book Haul

03.04.2019 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

The ever present problem for me as a bookworm is that I never have enough space for books, but I love books and there are always new and exciting ones coming out.  Since joining bookstagram and following a bunch of authors on Twitter, my purchasing habits have gotten a little bit out of hand. Last year there were a couple of months where I went a little crazy and in hindsight, I don’t even want to know how much I spent on books last year.

Review | Beautiful You by Chuck Palahniuk

03.02.2019 by Kari // Leave a Comment

beautifulyouI have never read a Chuck Palahniuk book before. Many of my friends have a really love his stuff so I finally bit the bullet and got one. All of his books are rather intense and make you think. Lots of irony and there’s a lot of social messages in them. Beautiful You was no exception by far.

Ashley’s March 2019 TBR

03.01.2019 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

For March I’m keeping things pretty simple.  Or at least I’m trying to. It’s spring break at the end of the month and I’m going on a trip, so I’m hoping to avoid bringing lots of physical copies of things with me just to make my life easier.

Ashley’s February 2019 Wrap Up

02.28.2019 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

I did a pretty good job this month at keeping up with my TBR.  The reasonable expectations I’ve set for myself have been easy enough to keep up with, and I’m pretty proud of myself!  This month I have read a total of 14 books.

Finish Harry Potter Re-Read

Last year, in 2018, I made plans to re-read Harry Potter. I read the first four, so I partially succeeded in this, but I still have three to go.  I want to finish this up, but the waiting list for the Harry Potter audiobooks from the library is so long! I am still really wanting to get through them though.

Ashley’s Most Disappointing of 2018

02.12.2019 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

Ace of Shades

Ace of Shades was advertised to me as one thing, and then it turned out that the thing it was advertised was a super tiny part of the book.  I was really, really looking forward to the scenario described in the synopsis, the shadow game, and it was barely a part of the whole story.  That being said, I still really enjoyed the book, but I just felt like it wasn’t completely what it was advertised and that was disappointing to me.

Kari’s February TBR

02.07.2019 by Kari // Leave a Comment

I had a bit of a high reaching goal in January and last month really sucked reading wise, so for February I’m taking my time and putting books down that have a high probability of being finished.

Ashley’s Most Surprising of 2018

02.05.2019 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

I read this one because the movie was coming out and I thought that I ought to read the book before the movie came out.  I wasn’t expecting much because I was in this place where I wasn’t feeling YA contemporary, but this one just blew me out of the water.  I was obsessed with the story and read it really quickly. I loved, loved, loved it. It was sooo cute and Lara Jean was a fantastic protagonist.  It made me really rethink me thoughts on YA Contemporary, and made me open my mind a bit more!

One of my favourite places to read is in the tub. I know it’s a little bit weird but there’s something really relaxing about shutting out the rest of the world and escaping into a book. It’s a small piece of perfection.
.
.
The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd was a book that I read for my staff book club. It was a fascinating read with wondrous elements of magical realism that felt marvellously woven into the narrative. I felt like I learned a lot about maps as well. The characters were interesting.

A: I feel like lately I’ve been really preoccupied with the number of books that I read per year as opposed to reading the long books that pile up on my shelves. I get scared by how big the book is and how it’s a much bigger time commitment. However, I often find that when I finally commit myself to the big book I end up loving it.

.

I found out about this book, Daughters of a Dead Empire, through #booktok and it was an instant buy for me when I figured out the plot. I loved the premise of what if Anastasia Romanov survived the execution of her family and how that might have played out. I loved this story! The dual points of view were really well done and I loved the story arc. It was well written and I highly recommend it.

What is a book you’re dying for a show/movie adaptation of?

I just wanted to get the chance to show off one of the three Thrawn trilogies out there. I’m so excited for Ahsoka because I love her and my girl Sabine Wren is gonna be in it. Also, Thrawn hahaha

Ah, tomorrow I’m seeing Taylor Swift and I still can’t believe it! If you want a pic/media spam of my adventure, just let me know and I’ll send it your way.

Have a wonderful Friyay!
