I turn 29 on Thursday and honestly I can’t believe it’s already here. I thought it would be cool to wrap up my challenge to myself of the 28 Books I Want to Read in my 28th Year. I did a six month check in, which you can find here.
Without further ado, let’s jump into the books I read and didn’t read from the remaining books on my list.
1. The Secret Commonwealth by Philip Pullman
Have I Read It? No
Thoughts: I still want to read this, but it’s just so hefty and I’ve been a bit intimidated by big books lately. I have put a hold on the audiobook at my library, so I’m hoping to get to it through that.
2. How to Stop Time by Matt Haig
Have I Read It? No
Thoughts: The opportunity never arose where I had a particular inkling to pick up this book. I know this list should be decent motivation, but I just never got there.
3. Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand
Have I Read It? No
Thoughts: I think I kind of forgot that this was on my shelf. However, I still really want to read this and definitely plan on getting to it at some point.
4. Kingsbane by Claire Legrand
Have I Read It? No.
Thoughts: It’s pretty bad that I haven’t to be honest. The concluding book is out now too. Whoops.
5. Royal Diaries by Various
Have I Read It? Sort of
Thoughts: I checked off another couple of these off my TBR, but I still have quite a few to read through.
6. Extras by Scott Westerfeld
Have I Read It? No
Thoughts: I liked this world a lot, but it’s been so long since I’ve visited it that I think I’m a little nervous to dive back into it.
7. Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman
Have I Read It? Yes
Thoughts: I loved it! I had to immediately read the sequel. If you haven’t checked out the Arc of the Scythe series yet, you really, really should.
8. Emergency Contact by Mary HK Choi
Have I Read It? No
Thoughts: However, I did read Permanent Record by the same author. I know that doesn’t count but I’m exploring that world I promise. I will get there eventually.
9. Heroine by Mindy McGinnis
Have I Read It? No
Thoughts: I really want to read this one, but I didn’t get there. I did, however, read a different Mindy McGinnis book this year.
10. The King of Crows by Libba Bray
Have I Read It? No
Thoughts: I can’t believe I didn’t to be honest with you. I was highly anticipating this book and I just never picked it up. I’m terrible.
11. The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh
Have I Read It? Yes
Thoughts: I really enjoyed this story and the world that she built. I can’t wait to read more in this series, but let’s be real, it will probably be awhile before I get there.
12. #MurderTrending by Gretchen McNeil
Have I Read It? Yes
Thoughts: This was a really interesting concept and I had a lot of fun reading it. I will admit that it’s not my favourite mystery/thriller but it’s worth checking out.
13. From Twinkle, With Love by Sandhya Menon
Have I Read It? Yes
Thoughts: This was a cute romance, and I had a lot of fun with it.
So I didn’t really do that great with my 28th year reads, but 2020 has been one hell of a year. Maybe I’ll do better in my 29th year.
