Ashley’s June Haul
I felt like I kept my book buying to a minimum in June. I hauled six books, which is maybe not super reasonable in terms of shelf space but in comparison to some past months where I went a little crazy with my purchases, I felt pretty good about this one. One was a preorder, one was from an order last month, one was from Owl Crate, and then three were from my trip to the bookstore with my boyfriend this month. I’ve also already read two of these! 🙂 Without further ado, let’s jump into the list of books I hauled in June.
Tag Tuesday | Days of the Weeks in Books
Reading is one of those equal opportunity hobbies. You don’t need to schedule it; you can just fit it in whenever you want, and whenever you have time. Personally, I like to read in every free second I can find.
Misc Monday | Borderlands 3
Hello and welcome to the first Miscellaneous Monday hosted by me, Kari!
How many of you readers are also gamers? *raises hand*
One game I’m super duper excited for that’s going to be released later this year is Borderlands 3! This game is rated M, so in case you’d like to skip this post, everything else (including the trailer) is after the cut. There’s also some story spoilers as well.
Misc Monday | It’s Been a Year
June 7th marked the one year anniversary of my first post on this blog. I can’t believe it’s already been a year, who knows where the time went? (Not me, that’s for sure).
Top 5 Thursday | Reasons to Be Happy
Everyone needs something that’s going to help them to get by and get through the day. Lately, I have been finding that I’ve been extra exhausted and dragging my feet, so it felt like a really good reason to reflect on some things that make me really happy. It never hurts to remind yourself of why things are actually really great in your life. So without further ado, on today’s inaugural Top 5 Thursday, here are my Top 5 Reasons to be Happy (in no particular order)!
Ashley’s April Haul
Another month, another book haul. I always try to be good but apparently I am a book hoarder. I really might need to go to book rehab. I’m just kidding of course, because I love to read and the books that I pick up are always a good investment for me. One day I’m going to have my very own library and it’s going to be beautiful. That being said, I still was a lot better than I was in March.
Ashley’s Best of 2018
Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds
I read this on a whim after a recommendation of the librarian at my school last school year. I thought it would be a nice quick read, and it definitely was, but I didn’t expect it to really blow me away like it did. I find that modern poetry can be quite hit or miss with me, but I have also discovered that I really, really love modern poetry when it’s telling me a story. This was one of those ones. I absolutely loved the story, and it was deeply moving. I likes the way that Reynolds put a pause on the story, telling the basics of a trip down the elevator but drawing it out to teach his character a lesson he needed to learn. I always recommend this book to students now.
