Tag Tuesday | #bookhangovertag

07.16.2024 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

I have to admit that book hangovers aren’t typically something I experience.  I don’t usually finish a book and then find myself unable to start another one.  But, I do like to answer book tag questions, so let’s dive into it below the cut!

Initial Attraction: Cover buy

  • My latest book buying problem is special editions on Amazon.  There are so many pretty editions with sprayed edges and I have impulse purchased more than a few this year.  The latest on my list that I’ve purchased are the special editions of Legends & Lattes and Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree.  I thought they were gorgeous, and since I’ve already read the books, it’s fun to have books on my shelf that aren’t adding to my physical TBR.

First Date: First book in a series that made you want to read more

  • I am the type of reader who likes to try and finish every series that she starts even though I am very bad at going back to series.  That being said, one that intrigued me quite a bit recently was The Strange Tales of Oscar Zahn: Volume 1 by Trí Vuong.  This was such a cool graphic novel.  I found the premise intriguing, and I was really interested in the character of Oscar and just what was going on with him.  I can’t wait to see when the next book comes out in this series.

Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night

  • I have a hard time reading before bed because reading doesn’t make me sleepy; it tends to wake me up.  I also have bad impulse control with reading, and so sometimes if I start reading a book before bed, I don’t stop until the book is done.  Lately, the series that has been keeping me up at night is the Karl Alberg series by LR Wright.  I tend to start them before I go to sleep, and then because they’re not the longest I think that it would be easy to just stay up late to finish it.  Then suddenly it’s way later than it should be.

Thinking About the Future: A book you want to read soon

  • My TBR feels infinite at times, and it sprawls before me endlessly to the point where it becomes hard to choose my next read.  However, I do know that I want to read The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson soon.  She writes some of my favourite young adult mysteries, and I find the premise of her newest very interesting.
