I don’t always think about books when I think about constellations, but I will admit that I did really enjoy this tag putting those two things together. I hope you enjoy this quick little look at some of my recent reads.
Andromeda (a book ending that didn’t meet your expectations): Tag, You’re Dead by Kathryn Foxfield
Tag, You’re Dead is a very fast-paced mystery-thriller where our main point of view characters participate in a game hosted by a famous pranking influencer. However, the motivations of our main characters are maybe not what one might expect. It was an interesting read and I liked most of the point of view characters. However, I ended up being really disappointed with the twist ending, and that soured my overall perspective on how the book played out.
Alter (book you’ve read for school): The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline
This is the book that I just recently read with my English 11 class. I really enjoy the storyline and how it’s not the usual kind of Dystopian book that you encounter. It’s also the kind of book that I wish I had read in high school myself, so it’s just fun that I get to read it with my students and introduce them to different perspectives.
Cassiopeia (book you’ve bought but later regretted): Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton
I will admit that I don’t regret buying this book that much, but it is the best example that I thought of. It’s an interesting enough premise, and I had heard lots about it, but it’s definitely not very well-written. I also wouldn’t really recommend it to people despite rating it three stars. I think what made it so fun for me was that I buddy read it with Kari.
Dragon (book you enjoyed): Together We Rot by Skyla Arndt
This was our latest book for our student book club, and I had so much fun reading it. It was very well-written and pretty impressive for a debut novel. I liked the two different perspectives and the elements of horror intertwined into the plot. It was very eerie. I liked the two main characters a lot.
Minor Lion (book you read in a few hours): Mislaid in Parts Half-Known by Seanan McGuire
By the nature of their length, the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire is always a pretty fast read. However, I am always compelled to finish them quickly because I just love them so much that I want to devour them. This one was no different. I liked that it was a return to the ‘questing’ type storylines that she occasionally tackles. I like Antsy a lot as a character, so it was really nice to see the storyline finish for her.
Phoenix (adjectives to describe your last read): Neon Gods by Katee Roberts
spicy, quick, modern
