Misc Monday | 2019 Reading Resolutions Wrap Up

12.30.2019 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

As I read so much, it makes sense for me to set some specific resolutions for my reading. I think I set just about as many reading resolutions as personal ones. Was I more successful in the reading ones? Well, you’ll have to see for yourself below the cut.

1. Finish Harry Potter re-read

I did do this! It was wonderful, and I really enjoyed listening to the audiobooks for the first time. It’s such a magical series.

2. Read 1-2 Shakespeare plays a month

I was unsuccessful in this particular resolution. I started the year off well, but ended up falling off part way through the year. However, I still want to do better on this, so I am going to keep working my way through all his plays.

3. Read at least 50 books this year (or more)

I picked this Resolutions butt and read well over 200 books. I’m pretty proud of mussel’s to be honest!

4. Continue to grow my bookstagram

I didn’t grow the follower count on my bookstagram account too much this year. In fact the growth has kind of stagnated and there are some times where I feel kind of meh about the whole thing. I do still like the idea of it, but I’m not sure if I will be able to put too much more effort in it than I already do. But who knows? Maybe my opinion will change.

5. Blog more and do more Goodreads reviews

I haven’t really done all that many specific Goodreads reviews this year, but I managed to do a fair amount of blogging this year. I’m pretty proud of some of the posts I made!

6. Re-read Tamora Pierce’s Tortall and Emelan books

I got part way through both of these worlds, so I think I’ll just push it and finish it up in 2020. I love these worlds so much so I’m fine with continuing along.

7. Read more diversely and in different genres

I dabbled in a few places that I don’t normally go, but mostly I read what I already love. There’s nothing wrong with that but I just want to put myself out into the world of books.

8. Read more of what I already own, buy less books, and be more selective

I did not really buy less books this year, but I did do a decent job of catching up on some of my TBR. Obviously, more work is still needed here but I look forward to reading it.

What reading resolutions did you make? How did you do on them?
