June 7th marked the one year anniversary of my first post on this blog. I can’t believe it’s already been a year, who knows where the time went? (Not me, that’s for sure).
I know I haven’t always been the best blogger or the most regular blogger, but I want to do better and I know that Kari is the same boat as me on this. We want to make content for you that is more regular and that is more creative and different than just reviews. Consequently, we came up with a few daily categories that we are going to be offering on the blog on a semi regular basis. We have a category for every day of the week, but we can’t promise that you will see a post of each kind every week.
Let me give you a run down of what our categories are:
Miscellaneous Mondays: Miscellaneous Mondays will consist of a variety of things. It might be character defenses, lists, challenges, and varying other things that don’t fit into any of the following categories. (Please Note: TBRs, Hauls, and Wrap Ups do not fall in this category usually.)
Tag Tuesdays: This is when we will be posting tags where we answer questions, often about books (but not always), that people have created. You might have already seen the tag I did that posted last Tuesday.
Writing Wednesdays: Writing Wednesdays will be when we post our creative writing pieces. Both Kari and I love to write so we thought it might be fun to try and feature some of our more creative work on the blog every so often.
Top 5 Thursdays: On Thursdays we will be posting top 5s on various topics. These may be bookish, or they might be just in general. An example would be “Top 5 Reasons to Be Happy”.
Film Fridays: We aren’t just readers here at The Loyal Book. We also love a good movie or show. We thought it might be nice to add in the occasional review of a movie or a show, just to switch it up.
Selfie Saturdays: More personal posts such as life updates, or rants will be featured on Saturdays. These might let you get to know more about us.
Shelfie Sundays: At some point, Kari and I are going to start a series where we give you a tour of our bookshelves. We’re both really excited about it. 🙂
Now, you might be asking, “What about book reviews? Why don’t they have a day?” Well, book reviews will still be coming, this is a bookish blog after all, but we just decided that it would be best if we let ourselves post book reviews whenever we needed/wanted them to go up. Sometimes book reviews have a certain day that they need to be up on, so we wanted to make sure that we had the flexibility to post them whenever we wanted.
Additionally, TBRs, Hauls, and Wrap Ups will continue to go up on the day that is the most appropriate (ie. the end of the month for a wrap up, or the start of the month for a TBR), no matter what day of the week that might be. It just makes the most sense in my opinion.
Did we miss anything? What are your favourite things to read about? What else should we feature on the blog? We’d love to know what you think. Let us know in the comment section down below!
