Tag Tuesday | Wonderstruck

06.04.2019 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

I saw this tag on someone else’s blog, and even though no one has tagged me to do it, I need to.  It’s a book tag based off of Taylor Swift songs, and I love Taylor Swift and I love books so this is perfect for me!

Guidelines

  • Link back to the creator (Olivia)
  • Answer as many or as few of the questions as you’d like.
  • Feel free to use any of the graphics in this post. 🙂
  • Tag however many people you’d like at the end!

You’re Not Sorry: A book that un-apologetically broke your heart

  • Asking For It by Louise O’Neill and The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith were both books that ripped my heart out and stomped on it.  They made me have a deep emotional reaction and although I’d like to mention a TW for rape/sexual assault with both, I definitely highly recommend them.

Back to December: A book you still think about even after you are finished

  • The obvious answer would be Harry Potter because I live and breath that series.  However, right now I’m pretty obsessed with the ending of Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid.  I can’t believe how good that book is and how it’s actually a fiction book and that the characters aren’t real and I can’t go out and listen to the music.

If This Was a Movie: A book you really want to become a movie

  • There are so many books I’d love to become a movie, and I hear Netflix is going to adapt a whole whack load of them.  Right now, I’d really love to see Wicked Saints adapted into a movie.  It’s such a fascinating fantasy story with a rich world that I’d love to see it depicted on the big screen.

Gorgeous: A book with the most beautiful cover

  • The original cover of The Diviners by Libba Bray was one of my favourite covers.  It’s absolutely gorgeous and I really, really love it.  I was sad when they rebranded the covers for each subsequent book, except for the newest that hasn’t come out yet.

A Shake it Off: A book that gets hate but you still love

  • Can I interpret this a slightly different way?  I really loved the original cover for Prince Charming (originally titled Royals) by Rachel Hawkins.  A lot of people hate it and called it ugly, but I actually quite like it.  Admittedly, the new cover is absolutely way more lovely than the old one, but I definitely still like the original.

Never Grow Up: A book that gives you childhood nostalgia

  • The Royal Diaries series by various authors really bring me back to my childhood.  They are part of what ignited my love for history and now that I’ve started collecting the books, I can’t wait to revisit that nostalgia that ignited my love for the series.

Sparks Fly:  A book you instantly clicked with

  • Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman.  This book hooked me instantly and I was super obsessed with it.  I devoured that 600+ page book quicker than I thought I would because I just needed to know what happened.

Style: A classic that will never get old

  • Shakespeare.  Well, specifically the ones I teach to my English classes.  I really, really love the stories and it’s so fun to try and get the kids interested in them.

End Game: A book with romance you love

  • Eliza and Her Monsters has a really cute romance.  I loved the way that the characters grew together as a romance.

I Knew You Were Trouble: A book you couldn’t help but become obsessed with

  • Six of Crows.  Admittedly, I am obsessed with a lot of books, but this was different.  I went into it not really knowing all that much about it, and I quickly fell in love with the characters, the action and the story.  Leigh Bardugo is a fascinating, creative writer and I will probably always auto-buy whatever she writes.

Bad Blood: A book where you loved the first one and hated the sequel

  • I always get nervous when a sequel comes out that I’m not going to love it as much as I liked the first one.  However, I can’t think of one where I hated the sequel.    I can say that I struggled to get through Legendary by Stephanie Garber, but once I got into it, I really liked it.

Tagging: Kari, and then just anyone who would like an excuse to do it. 🙂
