I’m trying to keep my TBRs pretty simple this year. I want to read a Shakespearean play, a book from my TBR jar, and one or two that I want to read. This month I have compiled a TBR of a few of these. So, without further ado, let’s jump into it!
The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare
The play I’m reading this month is The Taming of the Shrew. I’ve read it before when I was in university, but I don’t remember a lot about it. I’m looking forward to revisiting it. I am also going to maybe take it as an excuse to re-watch 10 Things I Hate About You, not that I need an excuse to watch that movie. I haven’t started it yet, but I’m definitely excited to get to it.
To Kill a Mockingbird (The Graphic Novel) by Harper Lee
I love To Kill a Mockingbird. I know that it’s not perfect, but I have done it as a novel study with my grade 10s over the past two years, and I’m excited to see it in a different format. I read the graphic novel of Speak last month, so my expectations for the graphic novel of TKAM are a lot higher than they might have been normally.
Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
This was my TBR jar pick for the month. This one has been sitting on my shelf for awhile, and I’m really excited to read it. I loved The Girl on the Train and when I heard Hawkins had a new book out, I knew I wanted to read it. I don’t know a lot about the book, but I definitely think it will be interesting to read. I have been loving thrillers lately so this should hit the spot.
Three Sides of a Heart by Various
This is a collection of short stories by various authors about love triangles. I figured that I ought to read a romantic book. After all it is February and Valentine’s Day is a thing, so it might be fun to read something that is cutesy and sweet. I don’t know a ton about the stories, but I’m always interested in seeing what some of my favourite authors come up with.
Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
This last book is going to be a buddy read with my good friend Cheyenne. We both got the book in our Owl Crates last month, so it seemed like a good option to buddy read while we impatiently wait for my copy of The Wicked King to come in (we buddy read The Cruel Prince together). I’m definitely excited for this one despite not knowing a lot about it.
What are you going to read in February? Tell me in the comments.
