In the Woods by Carrie Jones and Stephen E. Wedel is a young adult horror novel that releases on July 16th. I gave it three stars on GoodReads.
I am a bit embarrassed about how big my May haul is. I promise that I didn’t really do all that much book shopping this month except for one or two things, but so many things that I had ordered in previous month came in and so it makes it look like I went absolutely crazy with my shopping. So I guess, technically, I did go crazy in the past months. Just know that I was actually pretty reasonable this month, it’s just that all of my previous crazy ended up coming to my mail box in various shipments this month. Pretend that I’ve inserted the See No Evil Monkey emoji here, because I’m definitely a little bit embarrassed.

I was so excited about Fawkes that you should’ve seen my face when I learned Romanov was going to exist! The Romanovs were such an interesting family and all of the mysterious circumstances that surrounded their true disappearance. The speculation of Anastasia living, the rise of Leninism ,and just the general misfortune upon them is so interesting and heartbreaking.
Let me first say that I really loved Hex Hall. So in reading this second book in the series I didn’t expect any less from Rachel Hawkins… I was not disappointed! Even though it was set in London, there was not a lot of mention of the actual city (minus some tourist stuff), but it didn’t really bother me. I was so engrossed with the story of Sophie getting to know her dad, plus the whole mystery of “who’s making the new demons” that I didn’t miss much else.
Where do I begin with this book? It had been on my “to read” shelf for a long time and I finally found it at the main branch of my local libraries. I can successfully say I was not disappointed one bit!

Wicked Saints is one of the most anticipated reads of the year with good reason. It’s been compared to Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse, but I feel like that’s where the surface similarities end. The world in Wicked Saints is very eastern European inspired and also very dark, which is extremely fitting.

You’d Be Mine is the story of Annie Mathers and Clay Coolidge. Clay is the quintessential country rockstar. He sings songs about beer, babes, and trucks; he’s a superstar. Annie, on the other hand, is an up and coming country star whose deceased parents are country royalty. Clay, who has a bit of a bad boy reputation, is charged with recruiting Annie, and her band, to play on his summer tour so that he can put himself back in his label’s good books. She reluctantly agrees and they end up touring the United States together. But while touring, country music isn’t the only thing that’s brewing. Could there be a bit of love in the air?

Alice of the Rocks by E. Graziani is a novel set in the past and in the future. It tells the story of Alice, a girl from the year 2029, who goes on vacation to Italy with her parents over the summer. Alice seems to have everything going for her. She’s smart, pretty, has a long time boyfriend who loves her, awesome parents, but she’s unfocussed and as she enters her final year of high school is unsure of what she wants to do afterwards. However, she’s excited to go back to Italy, because, as it turns out, Alice was found abandoned as an infant in Italy and adopted by her parents, who later immigrated to Canada. Circumstances summon her parents back to Canada for work, but Alice stays on in Italy, staying with her aunt and uncle and eventually going to stay in a villa near Florence (I think). At this villa, she meets a boy named Claudio and she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him.
