The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert is the story of Alice Crewe, who is approximately 17 years old. She and her mother, Ella, have never lived in one place for too long, moving all over the continental United States. It seems that whenever they stay in one place for too long, bad things happen to them. They call it bad luck and they move on.

Are any of you out there a writer as well as a reader? I am. For as long as I can remember, I have been writing stories as well as devouring them in book format. I, like many writers (or so I tell myself), am simultaneously really proud of the stories I manage to write and also think they’re kind of horrendous and/or boring.

Hi! Okay, if I’m going to be honest, I am terrible at talking about myself and I kind of have a love hate relationship with it. It’s always an easier situation when I have someone who is asking me questions because then it’s easier for me to follow from point a to point b.
