Tag Tuesday | Beauty and the Beast Tag

07.02.2024 by Ashley // Leave a Comment

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney movies.  I love that Belle is a bookish protagonist and that she makes reading look cool because so often it’s looked down upon in media.  It’s definitely had more of a resurgence online thanks to things like BookTok, BookTube, and Bookstagram, and in my head, Belle has had a hand in raising a generation of readers who went on to become creators on those platforms.

Belle: A book that is beautiful inside and out

  • The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by VE Schwab is one of my all-time favourite books.  I read it in two sittings and found myself absolutely sobbing during both.  It’s written in such a beautiful way, and Addie is such a beautiful character.  I have the OwlCrate special edition of the book, and it’s a gorgeous hardback.

Beast: A book that surprised you

  • Crow by A. Zavarelli is a book that surprised me.  I have never really read any mafia romance books, and so when i found myself swept away by this one, I was pleasantly surprised.  The story is well written, and the characters are very compelling.  Mack was such an engaging female main character, and I felt that Lachlan was the bad boy that other bad boy male main characters want to be.  Both had compelling motivations, and they were very well-suited to each other.

Gaston: A book everyone loved but you

  • I don’t know about everyone, but I will admit that I did not love Hunting Adeline by HD Carlton.  The first book in the duology, Haunting Adeline, was okay, but I felt that it went rapidly downhill in the second book.  There were many strange analogies and the way the main character, Adeline, grew just didn’t work for me.  Zade is not a desirable bad boy.  He’s a predator and just because he rescues people from being trafficked for sex work does not make him a good person.

Be Our Guest: Which character would you like to have over for dinner

  • I would love to invite Daine from Tamora Pierce’s Wild Magic series over for dinner.  I find her brand of magic to be incredibly interesting, and would love to have a chance to talk to her more about her adventures and what it’s like to be able to become animals and also talk to them.  She’s just such an interesting character.
