I have been loving my summer vacation. It’s really not the ideal kind of summer vacation obviously, but after this school year I really needed it. I have been thriving while hanging out at home and reading. I also adopted some cats. It’s been a really, really interesting month. Anyways, let’s just jump into my wrap up!

Review: I don’t have a lot of specific thoughts about this one, but I remember really enjoying it because it was really interesting to hear about things that had happened to some of my favourite authors. I liked learning more about them and things they learned and things that brought them hope.
6. The Silence Between Us by Alison Gervais

Review: I loved the premise of this book. I’ve never read anything with a deaf protagonist, and while I can’t speak to the rep within it, I did really enjoy it. It made me think, and I highly recommend checking it out.

Review: This was such an interesting story. I really liked the premise of it, and how strong the protagonist was. I also really enjoyed the bond that she had with the golden eagle that she rescued. It’s a story I am going to highly recommend to a lot of my students. It’s a total must read.
10. Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare

11. Alison Larkin Presents A Christmas Carol by Alison Larkin

Review: This was such a cute collection of short stories. I loved the elements of magical realism and how all of the characters overlapped throughout the stories. I also loved that it was centered around food. Some stories are always better than others, so I felt like it balanced out well to four stars.

15. The Mark of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse

Review: This was a really interesting fantasy world. I like how one of the two main characters was set up to be an anti-hero and the complicated family drama that she had to work through. I didn’t know if I would want to continue on in this series, but I think I will. It’s intriguing.

Review: I definitely enjoyed this collection of short stories. It’s a good read for younger kids and I think they’ll get some real enjoyment out of it. I liked how they were all set in the same area and overlapped. The narration was great. It just wasn’t my favourite collection.

Review: This was a reread for me because I really wanted to listen to the audiobook, and honestly it was just as good as the first time around. It felt really real to hear all the different voices taking on all the roles. I highly recommend this audiobook.
