The Loyal Book Club | The Shadowglass

Hello, friends!  Kari and I are excited to introduce a new feature of our blog: The Loyal Book Club.  Every couple of months, we will choose a book to feature as our book club read.  We will schedule dates that parts of the book need to be read by and open up a discussion chat on instagram.  This month it is going to coincide with our inaugural session of The Loyal Book-a-thon!  This is our first time doing this on the blog, and our first book is The Shadowglass by Rin Chupeco.

The Shadowglass is the third and final book in The Bone Witch series by Rin Chupeco.  We recognize that starting off with a sequel is going to make it a little bit harder for people to join in, but we were planning on reading this book anyways and both have pretty ambitious TBRs for April and didn’t want to add anymore pressure.  Therefore we won’t be offended if we are the only ones reading it.  We just wanted to be really welcoming and open it up to others who might want to join in with us.  (We’ll try to make the next one an easier commitment.)

Here’s the summary of The Shadowglass from Goodreads:

Tea is a bone witch with the dark magic needed to raise the dead. She has used this magic to breathe life into those she has loved and lost…and those who would join her army against the deceitful royals. But Tea’s quest to conjure a shadowglass—to achieve immortality for the one person she loves most in the world—threatens to consume her heart.
Tea’s black heartsglass only grows darker with each new betrayal. And when she is left with new blood on her hands, Tea must answer to a power greater than the elder asha or even her conscience…

We will be breaking the book into four approximately equal sections that must be read by certain dates throughout the month.

The Shadowglass Reading Schedule:

  • April 7th: up to Chapter 7 (pg 111)
  • April 11th: to the end of Chapter 13 (pg 228)
  • April 17th: to the end of Chapter 21 (pg 349)
  • April 24th: to the end (pg 449)

Feel free to join us on this reading adventure.  And if you don’t, we hope to catch you in the next one!

(Be sure to be following us on instagram @ashleyreadstoomuch and @thedevourerofwords to see when we launch the chat!)
