The Loyal Book-a-Thon | The Quarantine Edition

03.25.2020 by Ashley // 1 Comment

Hello, friends!  Kari and I are starting a new regular readathon, which we are calling The Loyal Book-a-Thon.  Every three-four month we will have a new theme, and our first theme is ‘The Quarantine Edition.’  Obviously, we were inspired by current events.  Our intent is not to make light of the situation, but to have some fun despite everything that’s happening.  Some people might have more time to read, so we thought it was good timing.

Our prompts for the readathon are all inspired by things we have seen on social media or in the news, but we tried to keep them pretty open because we know that there are other readathons happening and we don’t want to put too much pressure on you.  However, to go along with the readathon, we have some fun bonus activities, including a giveaway (see below), 24 hour readathon, and group buddy read.

Without further ado, here are the prompts:

Basic Readathon Guidelines:

  • Readathon starts April 1st, 2020 – April 30th, 2020
  • Use our hashtag: #loyalbookathon
  • Post your TBR so we can see what you’re reading (and maybe shout you out)
  • Read as much or as little as you’d like.  The goal is to get a Bingo. So you want to get a line (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal), or if you want to challenge yourself, go for two lines or a blackout.
  • Feel free to combine prompts. If you can somehow manage to combine all 25 prompts in one book, we will salute you heartily!*
  • Feel free to try to challenge yourself and read a book based on each individual prompt.  If you can read 25 books in the month long period, we will salute you heartily.*
  • Any genre, or type of book can be read during this readathon as long as it fits one of the prompts!
  • If you have any questions, please let us know!

*If we’re being honest, we will salute you heartily if you just join in and read with us.

The giveaway is just for our inaugural session of the readathon, and the prize a book of your choice to a maximum amount of $20 from Book Depository.  In order to be eligible to win, you must follow the rules.

Giveaway Rules:

  1. Follow both @ashleyreadstoomuch & @thedevourerofwords on Instagram. Don’t follow to unfollow (we will know).
  2. Be a participant! Use the hashtag #loyalbookathon at least once.
  3. Open internationally or as long as Book Depository ships to you.

For Extra Entries:

  1. Post to your stories & tag us (+1 entry)
  2. Follow our blog The Loyal Book (+1 entry)
  3. Join our 24 hour readathon (TBA) (+5 entries)

BINGO Bonus:

Show us your card with the Bingo AND titles & tag us!

  • Line (+1 entry)
  • Blackout (+10 entries)

We will pick the winner in the first week of May.

We will have a separate posts on the blog providing more details about the 24 Hour Readathon, and the group buddy read, so keep your eyes out for those.
