December is one of my favourite months of the year. It means my birthday and Christmas. This year, it will also mark the one year anniversary of my relationship with my boyfriend. There will be turkey dinners and presents, and hopefully lot more time for reading. I’m looking forward to it.
That being said, there weren’t really a lot of books that I was super eagerly anticipating in December. I’m sure there will be something that surprises me that I didn’t realize was coming out, but when I was looking, I could only find one book coming out that I really wanted to read.
- December 3rd: Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi
I really enjoyed the first book in this series. It wasn’t the best thing I had ever read, but I liked the world building and the characters. I want to know what adventures they will be getting up to next and so I am super eager for this book to come out.
Summary:
After battling the impossible, Zélie and Amari have finally succeeded in bringing magic back to the land of Orïsha. But the ritual was more powerful than they could’ve imagined, reigniting the powers of not only the maji, but of nobles with magic ancestry, too.
Now, Zélie struggles to unite the maji in an Orïsha where the enemy is just as powerful as they are. But when the monarchy and military unite to keep control of Orïsha, Zélie must fight to secure Amari’s right to the throne and protect the new maji from the monarchy’s wrath.
With civil war looming on the horizon, Zélie finds herself at a breaking point: she must discover a way to bring the kingdom together or watch as Orïsha tears itself apart.
Children of Virtue and Vengeance is the stunning sequel to Tomi Adeyemi’s New York Times bestselling debut Children of Blood and Bone, the first title in her Legacy of Orïsha trilogy.
